Video: Watch The Ridetech Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod Lay Waste To A Lambo On the Road Course!

The Ridetech ’33 Factory Five Hot Rod has been a force to be reckoned with since appearing on road courses and autocross tracks across the country in 2012. Bret Voelkel drove the car to a Goodguys autocross championship in 2012 and it was in the hunt for the win at the 2012 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational, as well. As a further demonstration of the wicked coupe’s prowess, the guys at Hot Rod Magazine invited the Ridetech ’33 and several other Factory Five cars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for drag strip thrashing and road course running. As an added twist, a pro driver in a virtually new Lamborghini laid down laps on the road course as well to set a benchmark for all of the Factory Five cars to chase. One car didn’t chase at all.

The light ’33 had the highest trap speed at the strip but not the quickest elapsed time as the car was soft out of the hole but a major rocket ship at the top end of the track. One the road course with another pro driver at the wheel, the ’33 went into full ass kicker mode and after a couple laps to warm the tires it swallowed the Lambo’s lap times whole. Mega-dollar Italian super car zero, American built hot rod one. That’s the kind of math we like.

We’re not going to lie about being totally jealous of Jesse and Brandon at Hot Rod for being with these cars all day and getting to spend some time behind the wheel themselves. Believe it or not, I actually drove the coupe at Maxton several years ago when it was powered by a milder 5.0L Ford engine. It still sounds full house and looks even better.

Yeah they are nice enough and make a lot more sense than thrashing a zillion dollar car. Registration is an issue in lots of places. There are 8 FF’s on ebay just now, the high mileage one has 6800 miles, just saying….
