Over the weekend we showed you THIS VIDEO of a guy at Myrtle Beach’s huge “Mustang Week” losing the handle on his car during a burnout, shooting across traffic and crashing into a bunch of innocent drivers going in the other direction. The spot where that incident happened is the exact same spot where the below incident happened and where about a million other botched and otherwise near deadly burnouts have happened at this event over the years. There must be something to the crown of the road, the lack of driver skill, and the assembled crowd of people that make that the hot spot to nearly wreck your car and destroy others’ property for a laugh. One guy who was no laughing was the driver of the red Mustang in the lead photo. Why? Well because he nearly took out a crowd of innocent people and damaged his car in the process.
In typical fashion the guy pulls out of the parking lot or shopping center where all of the Mustangs were gathered on this particular evening, kicks ‘er down into low and lands on the throttle, spinning the tires. This plan is great for the first few seconds, but as the car begins to gather speed it begins to slide sideways and eventually it is heading right for the people on the side of the road who are shooting video and photos. Saved only by a high curb, no one was hurt. Had there not been enough curb there to stop the car, it would have slid broadside into a huge crowd and killed a couple of people minimum, in our opinion.
We’re mystified as to why this particular stretch of road is the Bermuda Triangle of burnout skill in the known internets. There are so many burnout near misses and crashes from this exact location that is nearly defies description and they all start with the car getting a little sideways. Thank GOD no ne was hurt, i enjoy doing burnouts and watching as others do them but there is a time and place for them. Clearly the first thing you should know is try and be safe as you can, be familiar with your equipment and what it can do , second know your surroundings and road conditions. Third have a sense of timing. Things can go very bad in the most controlled situations let alone in very uncontrolled situations as this.Third generation fuel altered pilot Kyle Hough had one of the most nail-biting situations in fuel altered racing this past weekend at the Cordova IHRA race on Saturday night in the final round, and he is plenty familiar with his equipment. You usually do not include fuel altered and controlled environment in the same sentence but they have safety fences and walls in place and also have a somewhat sticky surface. Even the most seasoned drivers and riders have their moments when things can go wrong so be prepared and never go into an already unsafe environment with cars, crowds of people, no safety provisions and an unfamiliarity with anything you are doing. On a bit of a side note One of the baddest mustangs, in my opinion, is the australians Top Fuel Mustang that was posted in a video some time ago in a video on Bangshift. Adrenaline gets going when you want to show off in front of a crowd, and overwhelms your common sense. The skill that could save these drivers hasn’t been learned yet, nor the wisdom that would keep them from attempting the stunt in the first place.
And Mustang guys wonder why they get a bad reputation. They are just as bad as the Honda guys at most of the meets I’ve been to
It’s because the road crown aggressively goes to the right. In all the crash videos, the ass of the cars goes waaay out, snaps back and wrecks.
I love how he drives off with the bent rear wheel and axle as if nothing happened! He was even to embarrassed to go back and get the rest of his parts! HAHAHA!
Its just typical Mustang owners, Ive seen the same with Camaro and Corvette drivers but it seems to be at its worse with Mustang owners. Usually there first V8 and it makes them special and want to show it off.
I’m a longtime Mustang owner and I have loved these cars since the early 1970s, so there is a lot of sentiment. I’ve also had a red coupe of the same era as the one that wrecked, although not as powerful. I tend to agree that Mustangs draw a lot of idiot drivers, and downright fools that don’t know when to keep their cars in check…My concern is that not all, probably not even half, of us Mustangers don’t get that silly with their cars…Part of the problem is the crowd egging them on, but there is still no excuse to drive that way in traffic with people lining the boulevard. I’ve watched a number of videos like this on YouTube, but this was the worst because the Pony took off for the crowd…This sort of thing will eventually stop this event from going on into the future…

Have you ever noticed how your car drives after getting out of a Malibu Grand Prix car? (Yes I still have my license from 1979) These guys just watched a burn out contest for hours,I can do that too,easy.
