The last violent nitrous explosion we brought you happened in Abu Dhabi, this one happened in Orlando, Florida. As you will see, a very clean looking fourth generation Camaro drag car is sitting on the starting line, presumably during a test-n-tune night at Orlando Speed World Drag Strip in Florida. The car sounds like it loads up with fuel and stalls on the starting line. Then the driver tries to start it and you know what happens next….KABOOM!
While this one certainly is not as nuclear as the one from Arabia, it still makes for compelling video because of the proximity of the dude filming it and the sheer size of the explosion. It was violent enough to completely blow the right headlight completely out of the car and the scoop shattered into a million pieces. The announcer quickly polls the crowd to make sure there are no injuries.
Next time we hit the strip and nitrous cars are running, we’re going to wear a helmet in the stands!
What’s worse? Screwing up and detonating your motor, or having the PA guy explain HOW you screwed it up to you and everyone else for a two mile radius. Poor bastard. Bet he doesn’t do that again.
ha, yeah i’d say the latter was MUCH worse… i would’ve kept my helmet on out of sheer embarrassment
“heads up everybody.” ….. “anybody got any fiberglass chards from the LITTLE BACKFIRE.”
hate to see a BIG backfire is!
I think a “big” backfire involves filling in the hole where the car was.
What is it with all of these nitrous explosions on Camaros? First Abu Dhabi, now Orlando.
Just a small cough through the carb! Move along nothing to see here!
