When it seems like every other full-size van manufacturer has abandoned ship for a European-style design, Nissan has actually embraced it with the NV-series, which is more or less a breadbox plunked down onto Nissan Titan running gear. The NV is one of those vehicles that we know exists, but normally don’t pay any attention to unless one appears in the driveway because of a service call of some type. These are usually cargo vans, work vans, tools…they aren’t exactly as popular as Nissan’s GT-R in the world of the automotive aftermarket. But this particular NV2500 has our attention for a couple of reasons. First, it’s set up for off-roading. Not dirt-road driving, either…this is a cargo van with articulation. Second, it’s powered by the 5.0L Cummins turbodiesel V8 that Nissan got with the second-generation Titan. Put those two things together and we suddenly see a badass camper, or a neat recovery vehicle…or, at the least, a large cargo van that doesn’t have to look like it’s directly ripped from a fleet sales lot for a life of long miles and minimal appreciation. Nice rig!
Appears to have a solid-axle swap with what look like ProRock or Rock Jock Dana 60 axles. Killer off-road gear right there, either way.
Does look like it needs a little rocker protection though, lol.
The ‘Extreme Off Road’ show did the Cummins swap and suspension upgrades. Interesting project.
