BangShift’s adopted road racing hero Jim Pace has been featured on the site driving Can Am cars, classic trans am cars, and all kinds of different iron at some of the most famous race tracks in America. This time we’re taking you to the same course we were at last week, Spa. Located in Belgium, the 4.5-mile course has 20 turns and is regarded as one of the most challenging road courses in the world. In this video, Pace is driving a Porsche 911 RSR in what appears to be an all Porsche race. The weather is horrid and the windshield is so fogged up for most of the video we have no idea how he is even getting ’round the track. Oh, and the best part? Pace begins the race from last and passes THE ENTIRE FIELD. This video is a virtual highlight reel of the passes and great driving that got Pace to the front of the pack and atop the podium.
We love the moment when the windshield is so bad that Pace takes on hand off the wheel and uses the old “Mississippi windshield wiper” to clear a space to see out of. There are some passes that are easy looking and then there are a few that were definitely not easy! He used the whole race track and then some to get around these guys. We’re amazed that the speeds these dudes are carrying in a driving rainstorm. The road racing guys like to get after the drag racers and NASCAR crowd because they don’t turn a tire when the going gets wet. After watching this, we can see why. The really good drivers earn their stripes and keep when the sledding gets rough…or in this case when everyone should be racing Porsche powered arcs!
There’s a reason Jim Pace is our official unofficial BangShift road racer dude and this video is proof positive that we’ve hitched our proverbial wagon to the right guy. This is skill, guts, talent, and sheer will on a big timr level at one of the world’s great racing venues. Imagine what he would have done to these dudes in the dry!

Now that’s racing. No paddleshifting BS!
I love this video!
His Car seemed to have a bit more in the bank than the others as well…..Awesome drive in the rain.
He needs to get that windshield fixed. It probably wouldn’t be fogging up like that if it wasn’t cracked
Damn air-cooled never did have good defoggers. Lived with it for years. Great drive! Glad the safety glass didn’t let go. Trevon, great observation but cracked safety glass won’t leak air or water. Laminate in the center seals everything. Now, if it let go that’s another matter entirely.
