Due to our Bonneville fixation this week we’re late on the trigger with this one.
Paul Cambria may be the finest First Amendment lawyer in the United States, having argued several cases in front of the Supreme Court and continuing to serve as the counsel for Larry Flynt, as he has since the 1970s. Cambria is also one heck of a drag racer. I remember watching him run hard during the glory days of IHRA’s Top Stock class several years ago and he’s been in the sport long before that as well. Not surprisingly, Cambria was one of the first to order and receive his COPO Camaro from Chevrolet Performance. Mere days after he got it, the car was on the strip at Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY (former home of the IHRA Empire Nationals).
I’m thinking that this is a “big blower” car, meaning that it has the larger supercharger bolted to the 5.3L LS engine under the hood. We’re also guessing that the 8.88 is in as delivered trim. Cambria couldn’t have had the car for more than a couple of days before letting this lap loose, so there’s little chance the COPO was modified at all. If this is the opening shot in what promises to be a bloody drag strip war between the Cobra Jets and COPOs, we’re excited. The US Nationals will feature a showdown between the Drag Pack Chryslers, Cobra Jet Fords, and COPO Camaros. Fantastic, if you ask us.
Press play to see one of America’s most well known First Amendment lawyers hit the strip hard in a brandy new COPO!

awesome car and great driver that hopefully we will see in ADRL Supercar
