Watch Paul Dallenbach’s 1400hp Unlimited Pikes Peak Car Launch Off the Course With A Stuck Throttle – Driver Banged Up

Paul Dallenbach was driving one of the most hair raising machines at this year’s delayed Pike’s Peak Hill Climb. The 1,400hp open wheel car is a little larger than a go kart and packed with wings and other aerodynamic enhancements to help it stick to the now all asphalt surface that racers were hauling up the mountain on. Things went very wrong for Dallenbach yesterday when the throttle hung wide open on this mean car and as you’ll see in the video, it literally launched off the track and flew through the trees. This clip is only six seconds long, but it tells you all that you need to know. Pay attention to the massive tree that his car literally saws into toothpicks after it leaves the course.

We know that Paul is banged up but OK due to a tweet that he sent. Here’s the Tweet –

[box_dark]Throttle suck on me, very scary. nothing left of the car. Took a flight 4 life ride but today was not my day to go. I am very sore.[/box_dark]

Thankfully, there were no spectators in his path and even more thankfully, the 150ft flight through the trees didn’t do nearly as much harm as it could have.

This is a pretty terrifying six second of video!
