Where Are The Blown Late-Model Cars? Check Out This Supercharged Mustang!

Few engine mods have the stop-and-stare impact of a blower and scoop through the hood. Between the howl of the blower and the promise of mechanical violence through sheer horsepower, everybody…gearheads and laymen alike…know that a blower car is a force to be reckoned with. But here in North America, late-model cars aren’t getting the hole in the hood that much. A lot of that has to do with systems like ProChargers and turbocharging, but that doesn’t mean that the Roots-type blower should be ignored. Just off the top of our heads, we immediately picture the impact that cars like “Mad Matt” Leischer’s supercharged Chrysler SRT-8 have when we do see them. It’s not so much a, “Whoa, that’s badass!” reaction as much as it’s a, “Wow, how in the hell did they do that?” situation. It’s not impossible but it’s not common, and that makes this S197 Mustang all the better. Known as 2INSANE, all we know about the engine is that it’s been listed in other magazines as a “302 Windsor” and it sounds like the middle of a heavy metal guitar solo, the part that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and pay attention. All hail the blower!
