I have gained a huge appreciation for fast motorcycles over the last year. Having seen so many two wheeled rockets at the ECTA meets in Wilmington, Ohio I learned a lot and came to really like seeing them perform. On the drag strip, the same thoughts apply. EJ Potter used to say that back in the 1960s, guys at drag strips hated motorcycles. He said that they were, “Noisy things that flipped over backwards,” and he said it with a laugh. Anyway, the point is that the technology and performance of modern motorcycles is incredible. In this video we ride in an interesting and low slung position on the back of Doug Gall’s wildly quick motorcycle. According to the video description, Gall runs 6.99 on this run.
The video is wild because you can see the front tire trying to climb incessantly on the run (including in the lights), you can see the chain do all kinds of weird stuff when the bike is under power and being shifted, and you can also see the rear sprocket, which looks like a saw blade engaging the chain. The terminal speed on the pass is 211mph. and it sure looks like all of that. The best we can tell you about the motorcycle is that it is a “pro street” classed machine.
You’ll find yourself doing what we did and that’s to watch the video multiple times. You’ll see it once and pay attention to the speed of the bike. You’ll watch it the second time to see the chain doing its weirdo dance down the track, and you’ll watch it a third time to count how many times the tire kept climbing off the track. This rider has some skills, that is for sure!
PRESS PLAY BELOW TO RIDE ON A WILD PRO STREET MOTORCYCLE AS IT GOES 6.99/211!
is it just me or does (at least from this angle) the sprocket look like a circular saw blade? Man that’s hauling it!
It’s a Vortex Aluminum Sprocket. I run one just like that on my Turbo GSXR. Super light. Pro-Street bike racing is pushing the envelope hard these days, with many riders going very close or over 200 mph in the 1/4 mile. All on a street-style tire. no flat slick or bar
Must be fun to bounce along riding your balls after a run like that (South Park reference).
Always liked watching the bikes
A bunch of us were near the starting line one night, and I struck up a conversation with a guy that raced fuel bikes, After some talking he pulled back his cheek and said “look here” and all his teeth on the sides were uhhh “damaged” I said “Wow man did you crash?” he said “No, when I am going through the lights on the big end, I am going so
F#$%ing fast, i grit my teeth together and scream. I keep breaking my teeth”
I think most of us can relate if you have been on, or in anything that is truly fast.
