Will It Grip? The Hoonigans Try To Launch A Rally Car On A Ton Of Dish Soap!

Will It Grip? The Hoonigans Try To Launch A Rally Car On A Ton Of Dish Soap!

If you have never seen a late-model rally car launch from a standstill, you need to find the nearest event to you and treat yourself. Those hyperactive little screamers go from nothing to ballistic faster than a March hare in the middle of fighting season, cutting 0-60 MPH times that would cause even the most cocky supercar owner to put their hands up and back away slowly. And they grip! Asphalt, dirt, snow, whatever…pull back the brake, engage launch control, floor it until the car starts popping like a firing range and hold on for dear life, because you’re going to learn something about physics today!

So how do you accurately test the tractive nature of a rally car that can dig down into snow and get busy with no issue? The Hoonigan guys devised a setup: a track that looks suspiciously like a full-sized Hot Wheels racing surface, and the dish soap you clean oil-coated duckies with by the gallons. Surely, there is no way on the coldest day in Hell that a Ford Fiesta rally car can hook and book on an automotive Slip ‘n’ Slide, right? 600 horsepower can’t overcome the super-slick layer of blue goo, right? Well…hit play below and see for yourself!
