Wreckage Video: Early 1980’s Demo Footage From Deep in the Heart of New Jersey

We’re so confused about this video. On the one hand, there is the brilliant unintentional comedy provided by a cast of characters participating in this demo derby. Then there’s the uncomfortable interviews provided by a reporter who appears to have never been to a race track before, but the real confusion starts when we saw all the vintage full and mid-size American cars get beat to a pulp. That made us sad.

We didn’t even mention the awful, but great 80s metal sound track that blares during the derby footage. Pay close attention to the end of the first interview when the guy starts beating on his ’68 Fury with a hatchet and a sledgehammer! BangShift approved!

The best guy featured in this footage is a man named “Cadillac Sam”. You’ll know “Cadillac Sam” because he’s the guy wearing the “Cadillac Sam” hat and matching “Cadillac Sam” shirt. He’s also the guy who has a chin that puts Leno’s to shame.

The derby scenes are hard to take because there is some nice stuff (First Gen Pontiac GP!) getting walloped, but the real stars are the drivers and their “Joisey” accents.

Click on the video to play. This one is so bad that it’s great!
