Want To Be On The List For A Brand-New 2017 DeLorean DMC-12? Here’s The Order Form You’ll Need To Fill Out To Be Considered!

Want To Be On The List For A Brand-New 2017 DeLorean DMC-12? Here’s The Order Form You’ll Need To Fill Out To Be Considered!

It’s strange to picture the DeLorean as a boutique car worthy of a pre-order form, but get used to it, because DeLorean Motor Company, the Texas-based outfit that has been the place to go to get your stainless steel wonder taken care of for years, has put out the order form for the 300-350 cars that they intend on making, starting in 2017. To be fair, this isn’t an order form…DeLorean still have a ways to go before bringing late-model DMC-12s to market, including settling on a powertrain that will easily dust the anemic 2.8L PRV V6 that the original 1981-83 cars got. Instead, this is a pre-order form, and while it doesn’t appear to show it on the surface, we wouldn’t be too surprised if DMC is using them as a way to judge who shall be worthy of a brand-new version of John Z.’s baby.

The company is being straightforward with one detail: people who respond to the questionnaire will have first crack at the cars, which are expected to cost somewhere around $100,000. Most of the questions are basic: age, profession, and inquires as to whether you are a prior DeLorean owner or not, whether you have owned a sports/luxury car in the past, and so on, but the question we are happy to see: do you prefer an automatic or manual transmission?

It also asks you for an address, so that they can send you more information and the actual pre-order form. Hmm…let’s see: care of Brian Lohnes at BangShift.com…

So you are pre-ordering a car that might just end up with an LS slung in the back?
