We know a guy who might want this back, especially if the other side is out there somewhere. Thanks to BangShifter Jeff Atkinson, we have been tipped off to the fact that John Force’s 1983 Camaro funny car body, well half of it, is for sale. Sitting in the woods and looking pretty rough, someone sawed the body in half and likely the other side of it is living on a wall in a shop or garage. Either that or it has been cut into pieces and is gone forever. Being that Force has lots of his old cars recreated and keeps racks and racks of his old bodies at the race shops he maintains in Yorba Linda and Indy, we think that the team may have some interest in this.
Force replaced his Chevy Citation body with this 3rd generation Camaro for the 1983 season and it was a good move. 1983 was the first year that Force would run the whole tour (while match racing, of course) and establish himself as a legitimate professional. This body was on the car when it appeared in the video below, narrowly losing to Lil’ John Lombardo in an awesome final round at the 1983 NHRA World Finals. It would take a few more years for Force to get their first win and this Camaro body would have long been in his rear view mirror.
The 1980s were not a financially flush time for Force so we’re guessing when the time came to update or upgrade the body someone offered him a few bucks for this piece and he was more than happy to collect the cash and keep on down the road. Will he want half of it back for $750? We’re thinking he’s got that kind of money laying around somewhere and since he’s back racing with Chevrolet bodies the car, the timing is pretty good!

22 minute 16 second mark might explain why there is only half of it.
Doesn’t Chad have a funny car body in his back yard in ‘Monga?
