Your Opinion Needed: Guys Take a New Camaro and Make it Look Like Crap – Lame or Cool?

Your Opinion Needed: Guys Take a New Camaro and Make it Look Like Crap – Lame or Cool?

The boys over at Jalopnik recently ran the story of two guys, Dave Sherer and Anthony Musilli of Long Island, New York. These guys screwed together a 1,000hp 2010 Camaro for use on the 2011 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. The catch is that they made the car look like total hell. We’re not talking fake patina in the sense of painted on rust, we’re talking fake patina like grind off the paint and rub salt on the bare steel. They were apparently commissioned to do this by the car’s owner, a guy named Bill Rombauts.

The guys went lengths to make the car look like hell. They broke the grille, misalgined the hood, kicked dents into the sides of the thing, and actually did blast some paint on different parts of the car for that hobo chic look. The motor is a stout 485ci piece that wears a Kenne-Bell blower and is good for 1,000hp according to the Jalopnik story.

This would be cool in about 40 years, but I’m leaning towards lame on this one. A dent without a story is like telling people your appendix scar is from when you wrecked your harley, though it does have 1000hp…

We always look at clean cars from the past as a glimpse into the past, now we have a beat 2010 Camaro for a glimpse into the future! =D

This is what happens when someone has too much money and very little creativity. It looks like his interpretation of a 2011 rat rod ?

Looks like crap, they worked way too hard to make it look like that and it shows that they worked at it. It’s pretty obvious they attached the paint with mechanical impliments vs trying to accellerate the aging process. The dents, grill damage, and brake dust wheels look like they did the “weathering” properly but the rest failed.

There are a lot of rednecks around here that would’ve made that car look like that for a lot less than $150,000. In fact, a case of beer and a piece of sandpaper would have gotten the job done. Lame.

On the bright side, he can tell everyone he “bought it cheap” because its a “fixer upper”. All it needs is some dents pulled and some paint work and it would be MINT.

He says that he did it because no one else had the balls to do it. Really? People beat the crap out of cars every day, but they don’t PAY someone else to do it for them…

You know, I WANT to like this car. 1000HP, a Camaro, and sorta going for that sleeper (i’m a junky car) look.

However, it’s trying to be something it’s not. Sorta like Milli Vanili trying to fool us with their lip syncing or Porche trying to make a four door family car. It doesn’t work.

a car thats used as a road race car or drift car and gets beat up from use is cool, but this is straight-up retarded

Take a hammer to the grille and knock some pieces out, sling a large chain at the bodywork to dent and scratch it well, and then make sure at least one rim is different from all the rest.

Then you’d have a perfectly wretched piece of asinine art on wheels.

Please kill the guys who did this, and lobotomize anyone who thinks it’s cool.

    Crap!

Yet another example of money not buying style or taste.

And yet another example of a “fool and his money will soon be parted.”

    Utter crap.

Just when I thought the new Camaro’s could not look any worse. lol. This is another example of an idiot showing that he has more money than you do.

Simply the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Reminds me of the Green Acres episode where they banged nailholes into a table to distress it. Serves no purpose, highlights nobodies talent and appealsto no particular interest group. Total and complete waste of good automobile

It’s great! All but a few of them will look like that in 20 years or less, anyway.

    I would never do that.

props to the guy who would make his car look like crap and still be making payments on it. Hope it doesnt get repo’d- bank would have a shit fit if they saw it in that condition …..

On a side note, it’ll prolly end up being flat blacked and the wheels painted red

There’s plenty of new Camaros out there. Almost too many if you ask me. I would love to drive that and kick someone’s ass from a stoplight right after they were laughing at the “piece of shit”. He may regret ruining it when they become rare, but more likely he’ll remember all the good times he had in it.

They did the rust in the wrong place for it to be a New York car. Bottom side, boys. Only Texas (and other good states) cars rust fom the top.

I hate Camaros…especially the new ones…so I can’t say that this upsets me at all. Let them have their fun.

    I think its great.

The guys who got paid to make a kick-ass motor and have a giggle beating the shit out of a brand-new Camaro AND

    THEY GOT PAID FOR IT.

Wish I could find a bunch of clients like that.

Looks like its been in NYC for 10-12 years. He could have gotten it that way commuting and it would have been for free.Kinda dumb concept.

Ha ha. I don’t like it personally, but it’s still got a cool factor with the 1000 hp….and to each their own 🙂

  20. Ermott

If I had 150k, I think I could spend it a bit more wisely than these guys did.

I don’t like this project at all.
