We went to visit the guys at MAHLE Motorsports yesterday, so we could get a look at the new MAHLE Motorsports Elite Sportsman Drag Series PowerPak Pistons that everyone is talking about. We couldn’t get folks to set them down long enough to get detail photos, but trust us when we tell you these things are a custom piston with an off the shelf price.

The dome on them is designed to work with most popular Big Block Chevrolet cylinder heads, with a spark plug notch for clearance. In addtion, there are custom features like deep lightening pockets next to the advanced pin bores, true slipper skirt forgings, gas ports, dual coatings, and more.

One of the features we are most impressed with is the thin ring package that they accommodate, along with some high tech stuff called profile and ovality geometries. We’ll be giving you some great tech in the coming months about ring packages, profiles, and ovality, but until then just trust us, these things are bad ass. In an effort to support racers who have some brand loyalty to one particular Piston Ring manufacturer, MAHLE makes them available with and without rings, and they are available in singles or in packages of 8.

They are available for bores as big as 4.630, which means a .030 overbore for guys with a 632.  New kits from SCAT will include these new Elite Sportsman Pistons from MAHLE as well.
