(Words and photos by Dennis Vos) – The official start of the 2016 FIA Drag race championship happened during the last weekend of May and was for one time not plagued with the typical “British weather”. During the three days all classes could run and gave a big start to the Santa Pod season which is celebrating it’s 50th year anniversary.
All major classes were competing for their first points in the new season and due to the fact that there was not much test space, the competition was on from the first second. This resulted in a few blown up engines and clutches that didn’t work properly, but all in all it worked out quite well for the weekend.
As the number one track in Europe you can see that there is a high standard on keeping the track clean and the quality of the racing in a high standard. This results that the start and finish of the racing takes place here. As the season is quite short (About 6 races) divided over 4 tracks in comparison to the US, you can imagine we as a fanbase go as often as we can.
After the main event we had Tierp an Alastaro, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend those event. How ever as I do feel bad about not keeping you up to date, I will try take you all with me during the NitroLympx with a bit behind the scenes footage.
percentage wise, what is with all the Chryslers in the pictures? Great to see.
It was the 23rd Mopar Euro Nationals
