This 1964 Chevy Nova Street Freak Is One High Riding Classy Beast

This 1964 Chevy Nova Street Freak Is One High Riding Classy Beast

Don’t call it a gasser, baby because this is a street freak! So the gasser deal is going strong these days, vans are making a pseudo come back and now we think it is time for the street freaks to once again roll proudly down the highways and byways of America. We’re hinging that decision on the fact is that they all look as classy and good as this one. No, the wheels may not be 1970s correct and the shotgun scoop may be different but the ethos of the whole car is pretty awesome to us.

The engine is a supercharged 350ci small block Chevy with fender well headers, the rear tires are all hanging out and they’re of the vintage appearing variety as well. Up front there’s a straight axle with parallel leave springs and out back there’s leaf springs with what look like lift blocks as well.

This thing may not be the safest, may not be the fastest, but it sure looks largely true to the Street Freak ideal to us. We dig the fact that it does not have a weirdo paint job and that it keeps it pretty honest with a factory color, all the trim, and those mondo ladder bars are present as well.

We’ve got our catcher’s gear on including the helmet and the chest protector so if you think we’re out of our minds for wanting to see a comeback of the street freak deal fire away. We’re hiding under our desk!

Lose the scoop for some velocity stacks, throw on some Cragar S/S wheels and it would be perfect!

At least it doesn’t appear to be cut up & the front subframe swaps out pretty easy – l think if it were mine, l’d have a stock type front subframe & rear suspension and what is on the car currently so I can change it out when I want too 😀

Street freak – you got that right!

Thankfully this monster would be on its roof and in flames shortly after the first tight corner and its passing would be a blessing……

Looks perfect , I remember cars like this cruisin Van Nus Blvd with Foghat blastin . Maybe change the scoop and add some black crinkle paint on the dash .

I like it…I’d add a more period correct scoop, maybe a Hilborn style, and black steel wheels but the rest of its fine in my book…

I lived through the street freak faze and I will say that they road and drove like crap. I’m older now (obviously) and would rip all the suspension out and leave that super clean body for a nice stock stance with some serious front suspension and steering upgrades and call it a day.
