This 1965 Dodge Coronet Has A Drag Race History And Is Now A Rip Roaring Street Car

This 1965 Dodge Coronet Has A Drag Race History And Is Now A Rip Roaring Street Car

Well, almost a street car. You’ll need to get some exhaust and stuff on this thing but you are looking at one cool Mopar in our eyes anyway. This was a former Nostalgia Super Stock car that has been toned down some in terms of the power plant. Instead of what was likely a big stroker Mopar big block, there’s a 1969 era 383 under the hood that only has 50 miles on it since being rebuilt. The car does still have its 8-point roll cage in it but the ad says that it is a bolt in style piece so it could be cut out and unbolted easily enough if you wanted to restore this or make a clone of some sort.

If you are wondering why there’s a hole in the hood, we’re guessing that the previous motor had a tunnel ram on it with some sort of scoop covering the carbs. Nostalgia super stock cars do not have blowers and that hole is too small for even a 6-71 to fit through by the looks of it.

The factory dash is in place and as odd as it seems, this thing is so nice and clean it would be a great candidate to be turned back into a sweet street car. Being a totally steel car, you are not going to be dealing with crummy fit from fiberglass panels or anything like that, either. The rear axle is an 8.75 with 4.10 gears, the transmission is a built Torqueflite with a reverse manual valvebody.

For us, these cars look so awesome with the piecrust clicks on the back that just the look of those alone had us drooling.

This looks like a pretty sweet car for $18,000, right?

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

    Ram Ram Ram Ramchargers!

Before I acquired my Ford addiction, I was madly in love with Mopar’s racing lunatics and this would be the perfect base for a tribute car.
