This Pro Street 1982 AMC Concord Wagon Is Just Wacky Enough To Be Awesome

This Pro Street 1982 AMC Concord Wagon Is Just Wacky Enough To Be Awesome

The first car I ever remember riding around in as a kid was the AMC Concord wagon that my parents had chosen as our family truckster. I don’t remember a bunch about it other than my father had us convinced that the AMC logo on the steering wheel was actually an ejection seat button and if we did not pipe down in the back seat, we’d be heading for low Earth orbit. They replaced that car with a 1986 Taurus when I was six so it wasn’t a car that made a massive impression on me. That being said, cars like theirs with woodgrain on the side always catch my attention and make me smile.

This is about the most BangShifty AMC Concord wagon we have ever seen. It has big tires in the back, little tires in the front. a cowl hood scoop, a cage, some gauges, and yes, it has a small block Chevy V8 making the power. Before you freak out on us about the lack of an AMC engine, realize that it could be repowered with little drama and some elbow grease.

The seller claims a couple of things that need to be finished to make the car 100% but we’d rock this thing hard right now. What’s left to do? Add a horn apparently, update the 5-point belts, DOT approved front tires, and potential replacement of roll cage door bars to meet current safety specs.

This car was built as a drag machine years ago and it has had both big and small block Chevy engines run through it. The seller says that this little Chevy is a mild mouse which wold make this car a good driver. Admittedly we would ditch the surf boards and the lettering about 12-seconds after it became our car but other than that we’re loving this thing!

Whatever he’s askin’, I’d give him more if he’d take that boat anchor out from under the hood…

I really dig the wood grain cowl hood and the surfboard print on the wheelwells. There are a couple things that could make it cooler:

    – A built to the hilt AMC 401 under the hood.

    – If you really want to go crazy, the Eagle AWD system.

One of the Cooler cars I’ve seen in a long time! Ditch the stickers on the car, but leave the surfboards, and maybe change the wheels for a nice set of painted steelies! Of course, replace the chev for an AMC, and that’s a killer car!
