Someone In California Is Selling A 1965 Corvette Powered By A 392 Chrysler Hemi!

Someone In California Is Selling A 1965 Corvette Powered By A 392 Chrysler Hemi!

Engine swaps have been the lifeblood of hot rodding since the earliest days of the concept. Dropping an engine of the same make and model but with more horsepower in made heroes of people like Joel Rosen, Carroll Shelby, and Mr. Norm. Cross breeding engine swaps are more controversial but have again persisted since the beginning. Today’s world of LS powered Mustangs is typical of that, right? Well, this 1965 Corvette has an engine swap the likes of which we have never heard of and it is epic. The car is powered by a 392 Hemi or some other variant of early “back distributor” Chrysler hemispherical headed mill. We have never seen a street going Corvette swapped with a Hemi engine and we’re pretty much freaking out over this one.

The fact that it all fits under the stock hood, the fact that it all looks virtually factory stock, and the fact that people must literally whiz their shorts when they see the car at cruise nights makes this an ultimate hit. We have to imagine that the swap was done many moons ago because why else would it be done with an “old” hemi as opposed to a 426 style engine, right? The air cleaner leads us to believe that this is a dual quad engine and likely that means some happy horsepower but why didn’t a Chevy rat motor find its way into this car? We’re not complaining but it is a valid question, right?

Think of the fabrication work and the custom touches needed to get this whole package together in such a seamless manner. We do not believe that there is anyone currently marketing a “swap kit” to complete this conversion, but maybe we are wrong. The one thing that really stinks is that there is no video in the ad featuring the sounds of the hemi out of the Corvette’s side pipes. $45,000 is a big asking price but the looks you will get at ever car show from now until eternity are worth every blessed cent!

Utterly delicious. Don’t care what the haters say, or the purists, guitar slingers or anyone else. That is simply a wonderful car. End of story.

Back here in the 70s, there was a 65 Vette with an arlen vanke hemi, a paint job from Gregg in Akron and LOTS of cash thrown at it. Ran around the pittsburgh area for a while. Car was in Hot Rod back then. Couldnt drive more than a couple miles, then puked everywhere. Wonder what happened to it ?

    I love it.
The whole idea of a classic Chevrolet halo car sullied by a massive dome motor is just satisfying beyond all reason.

  4. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

    Awesome indeed!

Any douche bag who puts an LS into a Mustang should have his arms aputated!

I can think of no brand more deserving of having it’s engine bay contaminated with a brand x motor than Chebby. Now it needs a Ford design 9″ diff and it will actually be a decent car. I may laugh the rest of the day!

    it’s beautiful…just….*sniff* beautiful.

It would piss off the Ford purist nerds and the Chevy purist nerds and the Corvette purist nerds….I would drive the wheels of of this….

  7. Mopar or No Car

And a stick, how sweet is that? Only thing wrong with it is the color -> black. Wish list — A/C.
