During research for our soon to be announced LS S10 Blazer project, we found that using the factory accessory drive handles most of what we need, but keeping our air conditioning compressor happy takes some work. The same goes for anyone installing an LS engine in something that didn’t come with one. There are complete accessory drive systems from companies like Hooker, Vintage Air, and LSX Concepts, but if you want to run the factory setup you are going to have to make a few tweaks, which is where LSX Concepts comes into play. On our project, the Corvette low mount air conditioning compressor bracket gets you close, but still requires a bit of fabrication in the form of a notch in the front frame rail. It’s not the end of the world, but it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. And, once you do that modification you are then going to have to use the factory GM compressor which may or may not work with your old system or the new ones from Vintage Air and the like.
So, what’s the solution. Well, Greg and the guys at LSX Concepts have created a simple bracket that relocates the air conditioning compressor up hight on the passenger side of the engine where there is plenty of clearance. The LSX Concepts kit uses a readily available Sanden small compressor which works with almost every car you could possibly be doing a swap on. And the side benefit is that this sucker is designed to work with GM superchargers like those found on the LSA engines. This means that finding a $500 LSA supercharger for your swap engine at the wrecking yard or on eBay isn’t a daunting task because the factory accessory drive, or one from LSX Concepts, will work as long as you use their air conditioning bracket.
And did we mention that their supercharger drive systems use an 8-rib belt so slippage won’t be an issue?

No more cutting up your frames to run the GM ZL1/LSA supercharger on your LS engine in your classic muscle car. LSX Concepts has solved the problem by moving the A/C compressor up top and utilizing a supercharger drive assembly reminiscent of the classic 6-71 style supercharger drives using a main 6 rib drive belt for all the accessories and a dedicated 8 rib belt on the supercharger.
