This is a live breaking report from the Brian Lohnes home for wayward tow trucks. There’s a wrecker out there that needs a new home and YOU…yes, YOU are the one to grab it. The truck was saved from the crusher by the guy who is selling it now and in true awesome classic wrecker owner fashion, the guy is not looking for much dough to trade the thing off. This fully functional, 100% awesome, 1963 Dodge D300 wrecker is going for $1600. I have already had an extremely unpleasant conversation with my better half and despite my pleading and loud crying, it won’t be coming to the Lohnes manse any time soon. This is a golden opportunity for you…yes, YOU.
The truck has a slant six, a four speed with a granny gear, and an Ashton wrecker body. Most likely it is geared like a bulldozer and will not travel at speeds more than 60 mph. This is a single boom, single winch truck and while it is not as heavy duty as our own Brutus the wrecker, it sure is a neat truck and we’re guessing that it is really rare because Dodge wasn’t a sales leader in the first place and the number of wreckers with their cab and chassis has to be lower than either Ford or Chevrolet. We’ve never heard of an Ashton wrecker body either so that’s pretty neat in and of itself. Ashton was based in Detroit and when you Google their name the only thing that really comes up is some stories of them building trucks and a lot of legal case stuff. Looks complicated.
Anyway, this thing rules, it is selling for $1600 and you need to buy it. Bada Bing!

I am trying to figure out how on earth I can come up with a plausible excuse to go and buy that to my wife.
You’d be looking for a new contributing editor, and the police would be looking for my body.
Not sure if its because I’m viewing this on my phone or not, but I can’t find a link to click to see the ad!! 🙁
Where is the link, Lohnes? How do you expect me to propose this to my fiancee with no link?!
Sadly, there’s no chance of my buying it. Maybe a Flatbed or a Pickup, but not a wrecker. Just not practical. 🙁
Here is the link, the truck belongs to my buddy. http://toledo.craigslist.org/cto/4560210016.html
