I’ll be honest, before I found this truck I was bumming. See, I wanted to show you all a cool dually but eBay was clogged up with a bunch of big dollar late model stuff that is about as interesting as plain white rice. Then like a beacon of light shining into the sky, I found this large pile of Ford goodness and my world was balanced once again. What you are seeing is a 1978 extended carb Ford F100 that has been beefed with 22.5″ wheels and the associated mondo rubber, a 5.9L Cummins (of the 2001 variety), an Eaton five speed stick shift transmission, and NO STACKS. Oh let this be the beginning of the end for bed stacks on everything that is making less of like 800hp. The low side exit exhaust on this truck is cool and the whole bed remains open with no huge pipes jutting up through it. The best also remains at chin height so it would be fairly terrible to use to actually get some work done, but it is there.

The huge bumpers from and back fit the motif of the rig for sure, as do the big mud flaps at the rear to keep rocks and junk from blowing out windshields and causing other issues for people behind you. There’s no word on how hard the motor has been turned up if it has been turned up at all so that old Cummins could be a hot rodding blank slate. The prodigious power that they are capable of making has been well documented over the years so if this thing was stock we’d be on hopping it up like flies on a new suit.

The interior is good, using later model Ford buckets and a reupholstered rear seat to give people some nice seating areas. The dash is a little on the odd side but it would slow us up from buying the thing. Maybe we would alter that central gauge cluster a little to make it all more clean looking but it would be way down on the list of stuff that we wanted to do.

The paint seems great, all the factory trim is there, we would put a factory style grill back in it, and leave the rest alone. We think that this truck is pretty awesome. It has some of the old school monster truck overtones that we like and with the diesel and a five speed, the economy won’t be too horrible either, right? The seller is looking to start bidding at about $16,000. We don’t think he’s far off with that price.
