This Crazy, Stretched, Triple Rear Axle 1970 GMC Suburban Is For Sale Again In Chicago

So we meet again, freaky weirdo 1970 GMC Suburban! While I cannot find it in our archive of over 18,000 blog items I know for a fact that we ran a piece on this machine a couple of years ago when it was for sale the last time. Shockingly, it is for sale again after the current caretaker lost his shop space and has nowhere to store a vehicle that is the automotive equivalent to a cruise ship. Packing a wheelbase that should be measured in yards and not feet, three rear axles, a space large enough to land a helicopter or Harrier Jump Jet on, custom paint that has seen better days, and the turning radius of a locomotive this truck has to appeal to a very narrow pool of buyers.

The seller believes that this truck was built to haul a trailer to Bonneville back in the 1990s. It looks to us like a ready made piece for the ISCA show car circuit of that era and possibly a little earlier. Like all of this wacky stretched out we were hoping to see some photos of the frame because there much be some bridge girders under there keeping this thing up.

Call us names if you want but there is an element of this truck that we kind of like. Not enough to own it but not enough to completely plow it under, either. If restored with more modern wheels and the paint all refreshed it would get a ton of attention on the show circuit.

Does anyone know the full history on this truck? More importantly do you want to be the next chapter in it?

In the event that this truck sells, here’s the text of the ad:

Custom made 3 axle GMC Surburban 3 door. I have done some work on this truck but just lost my workshop due to lease. It is a nice Custom truck but it still still needs work to complete. Please see Pics. Has a 350 Chevy crate motor, Auto Trans, Cady seats Chrome Wheels,Custom Bed cover, Tinted Windows , I was told that this truck was made to transport a car trailer back and forth from Ohio to Bonniville Salt Flats back in the Early 90’s Call Daytime 9am to 9pm cst
ask for Len Tks. Lost Storage Must Go $2800

For that price I would chop off the bed and take the rest home since those Suburbans are nice when done CORRECTLY!

Just a sad case of too much time and money and poor taste.
