eBay Find: The Craziest Monster (Street Legal) Dually We’ve Ever Seen – Six 54-Inch Mickey Thompsons!

eBay Find: The Craziest Monster (Street Legal) Dually We’ve Ever Seen – Six 54-Inch Mickey Thompsons!

Yes, this is apparently a street legal truck in Ohio. We need to move to Ohio. This nearly 11′ tall 2003 Dodge Ram dually sports an astounding six 54″ Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires and a pretty unbelievable 28″ of lift to make it all happen. No, you’re not calling up Skyjacker or any other outfit to bolt on that kind of altitude, and when you look at the photos, you’ll see some of the custom work that went into getting this truck to scrape the clouds as it does now.

The engine, trans, and rear end are apparently stock pieces with the rear end having been narrowed down so that the enormous tires (4 wide!) wouldn’t hang too far outside of the confines of the dually fenders. The rear wheels are custom 20″ diameter pieces which are 11″ wide and the fronts are 20x12s from XM. The narrowing of the rear end can best be seen in the couple of shots aimed directly at the back of the truck. You’ll see that the rear leaf springs have been moved inboard to about the width of the pumpkin! We have no idea how this truck rides but that just looks totally weird to us. With the track width this dually has, we’d not expect rolling over to be a problem, but seeing the huge leafs that close together just struck us as weird to the power of 100.

The front axle is a Dana 60 and it needs to be re-geared to match the 5.13 cogs that are in the rear axle. Those big gears help the (apparently) stock Hemi get this beast rolling. We aren’t even going to hazard a guess on the amount of rolling weight that is bolted to the ends of that rear axle. The tires have to be over 100lbs a piece, perhaps even closer to 200lbs a piece and that is probably being very conservative.

The truck is super clean and although there are no detail shots of the front end, it doesn’t appear to have been something that was hacked together over cases of PBR. Those huge coil springs are from Valley, there’s an ORU drop pitman arm up there, and a sway bar from Hellwig. The seller claims to have driven this truck at highway speeds to shows. Thankfully there were no sub-compacts on the highway that day because the blind spot in this monster must be unreal. You couldn’t see a dude on a step ladder standing in front of you, let along anything you decided to come up on while cruising the highways.

While this monster is cool to look at, we’re not sure we’d own it (and we’ve owned some BIG stuff).

I’ve got a Suburban with about 10in of lift and its a bit much. I had a neighbor with a big dually, hated that thing it looked so dumb, this one is far worse. Looks terrible from the back and probably rides like a couch resting on an exercise ball.

Who would buy a dually with a gas engine?

Also, what’s lighter? A truck, feather, dog, mountain, or elephant. I can’t seem to answer that one correctly.

That guy lives in my parent’s town, Mayfield Village. He’s built several over the years, and yes, he drives it on the street daily.

I take that back. He is friends with the guy that lives in Mayfield. They both have similar trucks.
