The BangShift Spotter’s Guide to Bitchin’ Old Australian Muscle Cars and ‘Utes

The BangShift Spotter’s Guide to Bitchin’ Old Australian Muscle Cars and ‘Utes

(Photos by Darryl Daniels) – It is a minor coincidence that we’re heavy on content based in Oz today. We were tipped off to the cool old Aussie drag racing videos by an Australian reader and then we got this killer collection of photos from Darryl Daniels, who also lives in the home of Ayers Rock. Basically, he sent us a smattering of the coolest and most popular Aussie muscle cars as well as some of the neatest and most unexpected factory ‘Utes we have ever seen. Seriously, did you know that DeSoto was building these things in the 1950s? Neither did we.

Scroll down to learn about the coolest cars in the Southern Hemisphere. Who knows, if you ever get to travel down there this could come in handy. Even if you don’t you’ll gain an appreciation for the kinds of stuff that Aussie hot rodders have been fiddling with and modifying for years. As Chad showed us the other day, these boys know how to burn rubber!

Thanks Darryl for the Aussie hot rod photos, since I went to Austrailia in 1993 I have always enjoyed seeing hot rods and sheilas from “down under” and plan to make another trip down there sometime in the future, not with a US Navy battle group though.

Sounds like a plan, if you are ever in the St,Louis region I would show you around, and play with the street / strip Duster and my 5.7 Hemi D100 truck.
