The guys over at Year One have been cranking out gnarly projects for years and their latest, a 1973 Pontiac Trans Am that’s done as a sort of modern pro touring tribute to the car that John Wayne drover in the movie McQ. The car is painted in the 1973-only Brewster green, wears the correct small bird on the nose instead of the massive hood-sized one, has a bitchin’ set of one off wheels that are scaled up versions of the classic Pontiac Rally pieces, has an interior that is very classic but subtly changed, and is rocketed down the road with a twin turbo LS7 that’s been reworked to be more boost friendly with less compression and stronger internals. We know the Pontiac guys are going to gnash their teeth at the Chevy mill, but as far as we’re concerned when the thing can go into burnouts that look like space shuttle launches packing all that tire, horsepower is horsepower.
The Year One squad doesn’t use these cars as museum pieces either. They get driven and this Pontiac has been popping up all over the place already. It’s been on the Bandit Run and at other events as well. 1973 is our absolute favorite year for the Firebird and Trans Am, so this thing really pulls at our DO WANT strings! Now all we have to do is hunt down Kevin at an event and get him to take us for a ride!

If anyone complains about the LS7 in this car needs to be slapped upside the head with a 455 air cleaner lid!!
Badass is badass! Cars with this level of detail that are actually DRIVEN are few and far between.
Andy, it is badass but i am a Poncho purist and i’m tired of people putting small blocks into everything because they don’t have a clue how to build or deal with something different. That being said, however, i do know exactly why they jammed an LS7 into this car. Weight. Cars handle better when you take a couple of hundred pounds off the front end. Thats just common physics. And these folks DO know how to deal with something different.
