Another week, another rare and big dollar Pontiac that’s also green! This time we’re looking at a 1970 Ram Air IV, four speed, low option model that was clearly optioned by a guy who knew what the hell he was doing at the dealership. I have nothing against Judges, they are cool and certainly personify their era but the Judge was supposed to be the GTO version of a Road Runner but it got lost in translation somewhere and they got laden down with lots of optional stuff that’s cool and all, but this green car is what the Judge should of or better yet, could have been. Amazingly, this low dollar, stripper car is now on eBay with an asking price of nearly $140,000. Funny how things work out, right? After all, one would expect that this car got beaten like a rented mule during its life because who buys a car with the big motor, a four speed, the steepest axle ratio possible, and wraps it in the lightest body they can unless the intention is to haul tail either on the streets or the strip? The seller claims that the car has its original block, transmission, and axle in it which is pretty awesome, again, considering the life it must have led.
The words “investment grade” normally make our skin creep in circumstances like this because we’d like nothing more for someone to get this car back and rolling down the highway rather than collecting dust and looking pretty in the corner of a museum. Yes, it would wreck the neat factor assembly stickers on the engine and it would cause that immaculate exhaust system to be discolored, and heaven forbid, it may actually cause a drip of run of oil down that pristine oil pan, but c’amon people. When horses are bought and sold it isn’t so someone can pet them and brush their hair. It is so they can run! This Goat was certainly a runner in its day and we’re betting that it brought more than its fair share of Judges and other muscle cars to their knees even on those skinny ass white walls.
What do you think? Was it possible to option one better in 1970 or did this guy completely nail it back then?

It’s a beautiful car. But the owner has tried to sell it first on the Supercar Registry Forum, then at Mecum and now on Ebay. He’s asking too much for it.
Pontiac built 627 RA IV GTO Hardtops with a 4 speed. But only 167 with an automatic.
Different car. The car you are referring to is 4.33 geared, bench seat RAIV GTO for sale on http://www.nickeychicago.com for $120k.
The only things that could make this car sweeter would be console delete and rubber mats instead of carpet.
Still, what a car, but too bad it’ll never turn a wheel in anger ever again.
Makes you think what cars from today will be getting stupid money in thirty or forty years.
It’s a shame car makers are so hung up on option packages these days instead of letting us buy cars with options a la carte, like the old days.
Give me a base model Camaro, Challenger or Mustang with the top shelf drivetrain, cloth manual seats, roll up windows, rubber mats, no nav system, and only A/C.
Don’t even put aluminum wheels on it, plain steelies will be fine, along with plain solid paint, no stripes.
I’d sign on the dotted line today.
