The other day we showed you some cool footage of a radial tire car in Australia pulling the front end at half track and deeper into some runs. Now we’re back with some starting line action from the same event. We got sent this link by our friend Damien Busbridge who is a drag racing fan from Down Under. This looks like it was an awesome event with some really heavy duty Aussie small tire cars getting after it on a very well prepared surface at Sydney Dragway. The cars range from stuff you will recognize to Aussie models that you have probably never seen before. They make the right noises and do lots of the same things as their American counterparts. Due to the lack of wheelie bars on the rear of these machines, they stand right up after dead hooking on the launch and some of them dangle the front wheels for a while. There’s a blown Nova in there that is barely tickling the pavement with the front wheels to about the eighth mile.
Who remembers the early days of this whole “small tire” business or when guys thought they were fast on radials two seconds in ET ago. It is a brave new world out there and by world we mean world. This craze is all the way around the world by a bunch. The Aussies know how to do it just like us here in the USA!
