With more than 40 bids and a current bid (as this was being written) of $13,000, we’re not the only ones in absolute love with this 1935 International wrecker that is currently for sale on eBay. The seller claims that the truck is a survivor, although it did get as splash of paint about 30 years ago. Mechanically it is as it should be with a Green Diamond engine, a four speed transmission, and the old school crank style wrecker boom on the back. We’re guessing that this truck rescued, recovered, or hauled to scrap many hundreds of cars over the span of its working life. Now living in a garage, it is time for some lucky truck freak out there to get hold of this six wheeled beauty and make the tires turn on a regular basis on the highways and byways of America.
This is a nice looking rig. The sculpted fenders are cool both on the front and the rear, that prominent front grill has a fantastic look, and the beefy stance just adds to the whole package. The truck looks like a die-cast toy come to full size and that’s perhaps the thing we like the best. The dings and scratches and imperfections are the things that make this truck so cool. If it is was ultra-polished and finished to a high level it would not have the appeal that it does for us in the state you will see below. What a killer rig!
The 200-ish ci flathead six certainly does not make a bunch of power but we’re guessing that the short gearing in the transmission and rear axle mean that this truck is capable of moving big heavy stuff at a big heavy pace. The glory of slow cannot be beat!
Too cool!
IH is perhaps my favorite US automotive manufacturer, and to see one with a flathead I6 in my favorite color scheme is just fantastic!
By the way, it looks like a PO somewhere down the line swapped in a GM 1-wire alternator. That’s really good, useful mod that’s probably a lot less costly than sourcing or repairing the stock generator.
If that don\’t put a serious ear to ear smile on yer .. face … nothing [ automotive ] ever will and theres something seriously wrong with you …
What a treat to see this old fellow – old wreckers, around here, usually wound up in junkyards with the doors removed for yard duty. I’ve even seen them with the roofs cut off, too
What a beautiful truck! I would clean and repaint the motor, then leave the rest alone.
