Someone Mated The Front Of A 1939 Studebaker To A 1961 Chevy Bus And Now They Want You To Buy It

Someone Mated The Front Of A 1939 Studebaker To A 1961 Chevy Bus And Now They Want You To Buy It

There’s good weird, there’s bad weird, and then there’s just plain old weird. This 1961 Chevy bus with a 1939 Studebaker nose pretty much fits all three categories in one way or another. See, the fabrication is great. You will see some really nice metal working done here whether it was fitting the cowl to mesh the dissimilar body parts, the new side entry door, or the big curved panel in the rear, this creation has some serious hours and talent poured into it. We just don’t know what the end goal is supposed to be.

Hot rodded or customized buses aren’t new to the gearhead realm, we have featured tons of them over the years. The thing about this one is that it is a full sized monster bus. Just moving the project to another location is going to require some serious towing capacity or maybe even a low boy trailer. Lots of guys start with “short buses” for this reason. They are a little more manageable on the size front and the proportions are so massive. The thing kind of looks like a chicken, right? We’re just trying to make heads or tails of it at this point.

In the event that it sells or the ad falls off, here’s the full text:

This is a 1961 Chevy school bus fabricated to a 1939 Studebaker front end. 26ft. Already has a lot of custom metal work done. Added a solid door with power window and electric door opener. Fabricated 1939 Studebaker rear fenders. Lot of metal work done to back of the bus.

New front suspension, power steering, 91 front end. Rust free. Could be a badass streetrod

Good project for someone who has the skills to finish it. I was going to make the inside like a modern RV and keep the outside old school. Have many pictures.

Will consider trade, looking for a GM Panel van.

Thanks for the tip Stiney!

Trust me CHMG … its a hell of a lot better than the wall to wall propaganda and advertising posing as articles and news/reviews/information … bought and paid for lock stock and barrel by the corporate entities that control them you’ll find on 99.999% of the other automotive ‘ websites ‘ out there .

Using the word ‘ websites ‘ rather loosely seeing as how most of them have become Digital Market Places … where you the viewer are the commodity being sold to their corporate minders … under the guise of infotaiment

Yeah, I don’t know…..I t looks like a variation of an ape riding a mini-bike, (or an ape f**k**g a football, whichever you prefer) with the big bus body and the little Stude nose…

Y’all probably need to come out my way for that … unfortunately .

As to this …. travesty .

IF .. and I do mean … IF the wingnut had bothered to widen and heighten the Studebaker to the bus’s scale …. or maybe better yet [ and easier ] narrowed , lowered and sectioned the bus to the Stude’s scale …

Well then … maybe he might of had something . Rather than the bolt’n weld hack job he did shoving the front end of the Stude onto the bus creating one of the more disparate , disproportionate and out of scale/context messes we’ve seen around these parts for a mighty long time

God I hate it when some hack suddenly gets a bug up his/her @$& thinking they’re a custom builder when in fact they don’t even have a most basic sense of design in their entire being

As far as buying it …. nope ! Aint even considering it . Laughing at it … maybe ..

I just think it would have looked way better with the original 60s Chevy front end. Swap in a Cummins for power and drop it into the weeds on some massive Alcoa’s. I could see it being cool but I don’t know what I would ever use it for. The RV idea sounds cool until you realize everybody and his momma can look in all those windows.
