What better way to celebrate 4/20 here at BangShift than with a Rough Start cop car? We love a good squad car deal around here, and out of all of the cop cars that have been made, it’s really hard to compete with a 1994-1996 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1. It’s basically the Impala SS, with the “SS DELETE” option box checked. Packing a detuned LT-1 V8 and a 4L80E automatic, it’s a lot of fun for a two-ton barge of a Chevrolet, and they are agile to boot. This particular 1995 is a former EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course) trainer, which means that a large portion of this Caprice’s life was spent dodging cones and teaching officers the finer parts of car control, and potentially more considering that it’s got a stout roll cage and window netting.
From the listing: This 1995 9C1 Police Caprice spent its early life as a State Patrol Car in Southern Illinois. The car was then returned to the Illinois State Police Training Academy in Springfield Illinois where the car was put into EVOC service at the Academy. The car car was outfitted with a complete Roll Cage, Racing Seat Belt Harness’s, Window Nets and other performance modifications and put into track use. The car was retired from service several years ago.
Harnesses, a ‘cage, an LT-1 that could be worked to put out a decent amount of power…all you would need is a black-and-white paint job, a push bar, and you’d be ready for whatever your twisted little cop-impersonating heart desires, from cruising Power Tour to auto crossing this B-body.
Good price on the Caprice with the roll cage, question is is it NHRA legal? Body seems to be in nice shape, just needs some undercarriage shots.
The phrase “Beat to shit” comes to mind when I think about the life this car has led. Am imagining the final scene of the Bluesmobile in BB1 at the Daley center when the Bluesmobile falls apart.
