The recipe looked great for a promising weekend of racing. The track staff at Beech Bend in Bowling Green, Kentucky had busted their backsides getting the track just right, and plenty of NCMA racers came out ready to do battle. Then Mother Nature decided to get involved and after washing out Saturday entirely and returning for a second round Sunday afternoon, it was all anyone could do to get a pass or two down the track.
It didn’t matter what flavor of drag car you like, it was here. Want a dragster? Got it. Want a field full of Hemi and Max Wedge Mopars? Got it. Late model cars? Of course! Between the Nostalgia cars, full fleets of Mustangs and Camaros, and even some evil Pro Mod cars, if you couldn’t find something you liked, you weren’t trying hard enough. We ran through the pits and hung around on the line trying to get every car possible in the short amount of time we had.
