(Photos by Charles Wickam) – You may be thinking to yourself, “Wait, I already looked at photos Wickam shot at a truck drag race shootout?!” The answer is that you are technically correct but also 100% wrong. Charles was at the Houston Performance Trucks event that was run at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas a little while back. These photos are from the DFW Truck Shootout that went down last weekend. Totally different events but the same great premise which is that cars need to stay home so the trucks can dominate the track all day. Larry Larson was on hand to run the gray Chevy and Wickam was there to blast some photos and lend Larry a hand doing whatever he needed to do.
Charles told us that the event had a great crop of trucks and that the hot weather may have slowed guys down a little on the track but everyone seemed to to having a great time. Larson continued to run the wheels off the truck and he’s on a hot streak of racing it now that may be going on 4-5 weeks straight. That is primo Drag Week testing time right there. Along the way he earned a Wally at the NHRA Topeka race and the truck has been working really well and living in the deep 6-second zone. That’s where it was sitting when the boys finished up at Dallas as well.
If you like trucks you’ll love these photos and there are more to come tomorrow so stay tuned!
