The 2009 Mopar Nationals just went down at its normal location of National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. That was a former national event track for NHRA until Norwalk came into the picture. Now Columbus is mostly a sportsman track with a big fancy tower. The Mopar Nationals is a big event, and now the local cops know how big, as the unofficial cruise that goes with the ‘Nats taxed the local PD to the limit.

No one got hurt and it does not sound like any property was destroyed, but the police were put through the wringer keeping an eye on the 20,000 people they estimate were part of the crowd. Reports are that officers were pelted with rocks!

It’s not cool to hassle the police for the fun of it. Those guys were just doing their jobs and trying to keep this thing on the right side of chaos. It does sound like the party was on full throttle all weekend, though.
