eBay Find: A Custom Built Eight Wheel Drive Willys Jeep With Corvette Power and Eight Wheel Steering!

eBay Find: A Custom Built Eight Wheel Drive Willys Jeep With Corvette Power and Eight Wheel Steering!

Sweet mother of insanely awesome creations! Unlike the disaster of a Mercury we showed you before, this Willys Jeep built by Ed Roth’s former right hand man Dick Cook is 100% awesome. Created by using two Overland wagons and one standard issue Jeep, the body is an amalgamation of those components while the driveline uses a rear mounted Corvette 327 that provides power to all four axles and all eight wheels. All eight of those wheels also steer. Blood begins to shoot from our ears when we star thinking about what went into engineering the steering system on the truck. We have not a clue as to where the parts were sourced for the steering, axles, etc. Those details are not given.

According to the ad, Cook drove this Jeep frequently and even took it on some off road adventures to see exactly how capable it was. Apparently it was super capable. All of the wheels appear to be on independent suspension so it would probably just crawl over stuff like a centipede. The paint isn’t perfect, the interior could use a touch up, but who in their right mind would disqualify this machine from ownership on the basis of those two weenie items. Look at all the damned handles coming up through the floor to control the various transfer cases. The seller claims that the rear wheels can be locked in a straight ahead position if you don’t want to crab down the road or pull a u-turn within the radius of the truck.

What else is there to say? DO WANT.

A true hot rod! And what’s this?! It’s got a gun turret over the passenger seat? What on earth is there ot to love?
I’d bet it would run right over a Prius…..

The lower a arm in the 4th picture is from an M151 as are the wheals and the outers of the center two axles, I’m guessing that the entire suspension is M151 fronts for each set as they have equal length left and right shafts as well as a pinion yoke on the front and rear of each diff. Ive seen some cool stuff made out of M151 stuff before but this takes the cake.
