eBay Find: A 1929 Studebaker Two Door Sedan Hot Rod That Absolutely Rules

eBay Find: A 1929 Studebaker Two Door Sedan Hot Rod That Absolutely Rules

One of the things I truly love about hot rodding is the fact that there’s no such thing as a “perfect” hot rod. We all see this stuff so differently and have different opinions on what is cool and what isn’t, “perfect” doesn’t exist. That being said in my eyes, this car is damned close to my own personal “perfect” hot rod. The color, the wheel/tire combo, the stance, the interior, it is just about how I’d draw it up in my own mind. I’d ditch the small block Chevy for a dual quad equipped 401 Nailhead. The rest of it though, I wouldn’t touch.

As the title of the item states, this is a 1929 Studebaker two door sedan body. It has been chopped a hefty five inches all around. I think that the amount of the chop is just right. If the roof were any taller it would look awkward and if it were any lower it would be cartoonish and lame. As it is right now, it just looks mean and sinister. I can almost see an old timey gangster sitting in there with a tommy gun getting ready to grease someone. It speaks to me.

The stance is achieved with a custom built frame which has a four inch kick up in the front and a wild 13-inch kick up in the rear. Thanks to a custom four link rear suspension and air bags, the car can roll down the road with five inches of ground clearance. While that isn’t enough to go off roading, it is enough to handle all but the most heinous obstacles you’ll encounter while cruising the car. The wheels are 15 inch steelies and the tires at Firestone bias-ply pieces. The wide white tires make the car for me. I am a sucker for the tall skinny tire look, especially on cars with a heavy chop and the body set way down on the frame. If the rear tire is just about even with the bottom of the rear window, you’re doing it right in my book and this car has it nailed.

The engine is a 250hp crate 350, which is good for reliability and all that stuff, but it should be ditched for something more befitting the coolness the rest of the car exudes. Like I said above, a Nailhead with dual quads would be just about perfect up front, or a blown Avanti engine!

The asking price is $27,000 bucks for this car. With the amount of metalworking and the apparent quality, that may be just about right.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like
yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos
