Just when you thought it was safe to go outside….we’re back with a final blast of photos from the March Meet at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California. While the race didn’t end until Monday, I had to hit the dusty trail towards LA and the airport on Sunday night. Chad held down the fort and completed our video coverage when the race came to a conclusion the day after I left. Before I hit the road, though I made one last sweep around The Patch to snap photos of anything I had missed earlier in the week and to see the fresh group of cars that were parked in the famous “grove” area next to the strip. I wasn’t let down and as you’ll see in this gallery, there was some wacko weirdo parts in the swap meet and some totally bitchin’ cars in the grove.
In case you missed the memo, you NEED to make plans to attend this event at least once in your gearhead life. This was my second trip to the March Meet, the first was in 2005 or so. It is a magical race that’s full of history, draws the biggest current and former stars of the sport to arguably the most historic strip in the world, and has a car show that rotates and morphs each day into something else. There’s nothing else like it. The racing is balls out awesome, too.
