New England’s Newest Pro Mod Is Going To Be A Tim McAmis Lightweight Bad Ass!

New England’s Newest Pro Mod Is Going To Be A Tim McAmis Lightweight Bad Ass!

Very few classes in drag racing have had the kind of incredible groundswell of development and performance gains as Pro Mod has had over the last 10 years. From the technology in the suspension and engine bay with turbocharged, nitrous, and blown alcohol engines making 3,000hp to the use of advanced lightweight metals and composites in their physical construction, pro mods are advancing at an amazing rate. The newest pro mod in New England will be taking advantage of all this stuff as James and Joey Sartori have taken ownership of a lightweight Tim McAmis roller that will be finished off at Tube Chassis Designz in Hanson, Massachusetts. There is more titanium and carbon fiber in this Camaro than there is in most modern space flight vehicles and when the blown alcohol Brad Anderson hemi is installed in the front of it, it’ll be quicker than most space ships as well.

Joey and James had recently campaigned a Camaro in Heavy Street at races like the YellowBullet Nationals and Shakedown, but wanted to go pro mod racing and sold that car in order to buy this roller which was built in late 2010 and never finished. Sandahl will be doing the plumbing, wiring, and driveline install in the car before the boys start rocketing down strips late this season (hopefully). The car is amazing as it sits and we were lucky enough to climb all over it at Jon’s place the other day. Chassis guys are normally pretty picky when they look over stuff but even Sandahl was blown away at the well thought out details and techniques used to built this car. For example, the placement of the fire bottles in the rear of the car and the little windows cut in the carbon fiber panel to monitor their level of charge are little things that just jump out as being bad ass. Since Jon’s shop is a small two man operation, building a pro mod or full tilt door slammer from scratch ties he and his right hand man John up for extended periods of time, so completing a car like this is better for keeping the work coming in and out of his operation.

It is neat to see one of these cars in the raw before paint and all the other mechanicals are added. McAmis sells a couple versions of their cars and this is the double throwdown lightweight version with carbon fiber wheelie bars, complete carbon fiber body, titanium everywhere, and every other trick in the book thrown at it. Jon and I removed the nose of this car to take detail photos and even with the structure in it to mount to the chassis, it could be carried with one hand on either side. The only reason two guys need to carry it is because it is so wide.

We’re going to follow this car along as Jon and John finish it, so consider this first gallery an introduction. Also, for the rest of the pro mod competitors in the Northeast, there’s a new car coming and you better be ready! This is the bleeding edge of doorslammer technology!
