One of the most requested songs we have had from readers to be featured in our BangShift Daily Tune Up items is Rob Zombie’s 1993 song Black Sunshine. If you are familiar with Rob Zombie you know that this ain’t some pussy-footin’ ballad about nice paint and summer dreams. This is a hard rocking tune about a rip snorting Mustang. Iggy Pop provides the voice in the spoken word sections and Zombie provides the brooding lyrics and voice to the singing portions. We’re also thinking that Zombie did the video as well because it is in his style and he’s since become a well known and acclaimed film maker in recent years.
This is the heaviest tune we have ever run as part of the Daily Tune Up and we’re sure that the metalheads in the crowd will be bobbing their heads and pounding on their dashboards while listening. This song charted at #39 on the rock lists in 1993 and has become a signature tune for Zombie who included it on his greatest hits album and apparently plays it frequently at shows.
