Celebrity Car Death Match: Bigfoot 1 From Take This Job And Shove It VS The Wild ’67 Chevy From Fast And Furious 4

Celebrity Car Death Match: Bigfoot 1 From Take This Job And Shove It VS The Wild ’67 Chevy From Fast And Furious 4

Today’s death match is all about trucks. We have two very different competitors here in the ring of doom. There’s the giant Bigfoot and the slammed 1967 Chevy from The Fast and the Furious 4. Before we get too deep into the karmic impact of this fight, let’s check the tale of the tape from yesterday’s wild encounter between the Deathmobile from Animal House and the first edition of the Batmobile.

[box_dark]A tough battle between two movie icons

The Deathmobile DEFEATS the Batmobile in a close one.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? In this case it sure was.[/box_dark]

Today we’re looking at two trucks, two very different trucks that both got their respective jobs done in the movies where they were featured. We’ll go age before beauty today and talk about the iconic Bigfoot Ford F-250 which played a central role during the race scene in Take This Job and Shove It. The big Ford, which was powered by a blown Alan Root Ford hemi took on all comers and won the day, bulldozing one racer sideways across a mud pit just because it could. The truck was driven very hard on this movie set and reportedly suffered all manner of different damage. You can clearly see the smashed windshield as it drove through the structure below. Bigfoot went on to become an iconic truck that grew into its own industry, basically. Today there are a fleet of them running around the country racing in front of huge crowds, displaying at events and shows, and making kids and kid-like adults smile with glee as the trucks soar through the air. Make no mistake about it, this was the biggest (in both terms of publicity and size) pickup truck in the world when the movie came out. Almost every part of the truck was hand fabricated by Bob Chandler or one of the guys at his 4×4 shop in Missouri. People that had not seen the truck making arena appearances surely about fell from their theater seats when the big blue bastard showed up on screen and went to work winning the race it starred in. That’s all good but does the ‘Foot have the suds to take out its opponent in the death match ring today?

Idling across the ring is a highly modified 1967 Chevy truck that had its day in the sun during The Fast and The Furious 4. The truck was used to hijack a fuel tanker and although it was dubbed to sound like a diesel in the movie, it is in fact powered by a 502ci Chevy rat motor. Wearing no bed, huge big rig super singles, and chromed exhaust stacks, it is one of the most unique looking trucks to hit the silver screen. Parts heavy hauler, street racer, and scaled down big rig, there is no doubt that it could out run the big blue Ford, but we’re not sure how it would fight back in the confines of the ring. Perhaps it would try to smash and potentially flatted the big tires its opponent is wearing. Taking a page out of the movie handbook perhaps it would use the big hitch thing that attached it to the fuel tanker to drag Bigfoot backwards until the monster truck suffered some sort of driveline failure. All we know is that it has some good power, bitchin’ looks, and it ain’t the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog. Does this mongrel have what it takes to fell the mighty Bigfoot? You tell us!

VOTE BELOW NOW! CAN BIGFOOT BEAT UP ON THE 1967 FAST AND FURIOUS CHEVY? WILL THE UNDERDOG TRUCK WIN THIS BATTLE WITH SPEED AND WITS? WILL THE CHEVY BE FLATTENED INTO A TORTILLA? TELL US NOW LOUD AND PROUD BELOW!

As much as I have disdain for the whole “monster truck” phenomenon, no one can deny that Chandler’s “Bigfoot” was the first. And that’s reason enough for the win.

  2. ford141

Hmmmmm, let’s see…. an iconic truck that was a certified badass before and after its appearance in a movie and one that spurred an entire 4×4 truck industry, vs. a movie prop….. No contest.

  3. Davey

Seriously ?? This should be no contest. Trumped up movie car vs. an Icon of the sport motorsport world and a hero for millions. I wasn’t even sure which truck from Fart an Frustrating you were even talking about.

I’m a GM guy and I love the 67, but it’s Bigfoot. We can’t deny that Bigfoot was the beginning of Monster Trucks.

  5. Davey

This death match should have been Bigfoot vs. Gravedigger.

That would get the testosterone going !!

    1. The Outsider

I may be losing the plot, but was Gravedigger ever in a Hollywood movie?

  6. Chuck

Got to love those 1st gen monster trucks. Ordinary pickup trucks built to do extraordinary things. Original Bigfoot for the win.

  7. Remy-Z

Yeah…not buying this. Monster trucks are to the automotive community as the bearded lady is to the freakshow at the circus: An eyecatcher, but unless you’re psychotic, you ain’t taking her home. While I’ll give Bigfoot 1 it’s due, the truth is that it created a sideshow with vehicles that somehow manage to be more fake that NASCAR. And did you all forget you’re supposed to be going on the vehicle’s character, not the actual vehicle itself? Either way, the ’67 wins. It’s in the first F&F movie that wasn’t total crap, it’s built to tow and haul (hey, a useful feature!), and looked damn good doing it. Personally think too many of you all are holding onto nostalgia here.

  8. Stifler

Never even heard of the F&F rig. I looks like a joke mobile anyway. The Chebbie in the Bigfoot picture looks pretty badass, though. KC Skylighters must have sponsored TTJASI with all the lights on those trucks.

    No contest. Bigfoot.

  9. Brad Klaassen

    Bigfoot hands down.

Us Batmobile supporters also demand a recount from yesterday’s Celebrity Car Death Match! I suspect hanging chad in that vote.

  10. Mike Brooks

This isn’t even fair. Bigfoot all the way. Who spent a good portion of thier childhood daydreaming about something from the Fake and the Furious movies??

  11. 75Duster

Bigfoot, because it started the monster truck craze, and he started it here in my home state of Missouri.

  12. Caveman Tony

The scene that I CAN’T get out of my head:

BigFoot, t-boned up against the rival truck in the mud field, throttle PEGGED, plowing the other truck into the mud up to its frame.

    WIN.

  13. Tim Wolfe

I dig the semi looking Chevy, but Bigfoot is a legend and a truck most relate to even after all these years. Not a fair comparison, nevertheless i’m going with Bob Chandlers creation

  14. The Outsider

Okay, I smell set-up. Lohnes is such a titanic monster truck fan that he matched up the “Truckin'” version of the “Washington Generals” against the “Harlem Globetrotters.”

    And we fell for it!

  15. Challenger 6 Pac

They’ll be throwing snowballs in Hell when a show truck can beat up on any Monster Truck.
    Bigfoot by 10 miles.

  16. chadb

the chevy is a 68, check the large back window, 67s had smaller ones. having said that, going with bigfoot here. nostaligia aside, the ford’s scene was more entertaining.
