Yesterday Chad quizzed you about your thoughts on fuel injection and if you had any fear about making the switch to EFI. Since I know most of you are running carbs on your engines, I am going that way today with my question. I want to know what your preference is with respect to those mechanical fuel mixers we all know and love. Do you like a big honking single carb on top of your mill? Maybe a trio of two barrels to get the job done? You dig the wow factor of a a pair of four barrels atop and intake manifold? Maybe you’re an old school guy who like a gaggle of little single throat carbs providing the air and fuel to your engine. All of these are certainly cool options for a cruiser, but some of you have race cars that may limit what you can run for induction. If you are a single carb guy and that single carb is a Dominator, you get bonus points for actually having an engine hairy enough to need all of that breath!
So today’s question of the day is all about carbs in their many glorious sizes, shapes, and configurations. Make it happen…we want your answers!
BangShift Question of the Day: Carbs – Do You Like A Big Single Carb? Dual Quads? Tri-Power? A Bunch Of Single Throats?
K.I.S.S. one carb
Weber DCOEs or IDAs on an independent runner manifold.
Exactly
Two big old four barrels.
I’ve run three twos, two fours, and single four, and a dominator. The one I liked best though was a three barrel like the one above. When you run in the 11’s and people see a vacuum secondary, they walk away scratching their head.
i like tunnel rams with dual carbs !!
One Holley 390 four-barrel on 292 c.i. Stovebolt Six with lump port head.
I dig the wow factor of multiple carbs but refuse to deal with the reliability and tuneabilty and transitional operation issues, so I run EFI
BKB
If I ran carbs, I’d want a tri-power. Two barrel economy, six barrel power.
Love the Mopar 426 Max wedge crossram dual 4’s
I like them all.
I think it has to do with the situation. Old style cruiser looks good with 4 2-bbl, 2 4-bbl always look nice, but if you’re looking for nothing but all out performance then there’s really only a properly tuned 4 bbl.
