Auto Trader Classics Find: A 1942 Dodge WC-53 Carryall

Auto Trader Classics Find: A 1942 Dodge WC-53 Carryall

There are a handful of vehicles that we fall into instant lust with when we see them. This 1942 Dodge WC-53 Carryall is one of them. In virtually perfect condition, you could pay your money and be rolling in high style immediately. So you wife wants a green SUV to cruise around in? This is the ticket! Sure it may be down on creature comforts, but she’ll be using that big winch up front to drag all the other mom’s crappy little crossovers out of the ditch in the winter.

The seller is not sure of the weight rating of the suspension on this truck as they came in both half-ton and three-quarter ton variants. The three-quarter ton model was offered in 1942 only, so there is a decent shot of it being the heavy duty version. In our semi-educated opinion, judging by the rear fenders and the way the tires fit, this is a three-quarter ton model.

The photos really tell the story here. This thing is minto in every respect. The interior is spartan and perfect with its wooden floors and bench seats. The roof panel, which was cloth, looks to be well done from the interior view we can see in the photos.

A drag racer the Carryall is not with a 223ci six cylinder that sported a 6.7:1 compression ratio, made 233 ft/lbs of torque, and a blustery 92hp.

The ad correctly states that just over 8,000 of these were made. We love their shape, the fact that there is more steel in the front fenders than in most new cars, and the sheer bad-assedness of the whole works.

We want!
