Optima Film Festival Finalist: One Minute And 10 Seconds Of Off Road Racing Insanity

We’re going to continue showing you the films that made the finals at the 2015 Optima film festival at the SEMA show because all of them are pretty flipping sweet. The other day we showed you the winner in the action camera category which was the Afternoon Donuts video from Tucci Hot Rods. Today we’re showing you this non-stop one minute film that was one of the finalists that we voted on at the House of Blues inside the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino.

The name of this video is Relentless and it is perfectly titled because we see just over one minute of craziness from the perspective of a short course off-road racer. We see the trucks jumping, the mud flying and there awesome great angles of wrecks, near misses, and contact being made on the course.

It is funny. Off road racing is mostly a midwest and western affair. We don’t see much if any of it here in New England outside of the Red Bull Frozen Rush event that we’re hoping to be covering again in 2016 like we did in 2015. Frozen Rush gave us our first real taste of this competition up close and it becomes immediately clear as to why people love it so much. The action is non-stop, you have screaming V8 engines, you have parts and pieces flying, and it defines the term “full contact”. It has to take some real guts to be inside these things and this video proves it. Hell, just the shot where the dude’s face gets completely covered in muck while he’s moving at full bore would make us freak out.

The thought of another guy literally landing on us? No thanks!
