You Won’t Do Better For The Price: This 1980 Chevrolet Malibu Is Too Good To Pass Up!

You Won’t Do Better For The Price: This 1980 Chevrolet Malibu Is Too Good To Pass Up!

This was the car I dreamt about in high school, and still lust after. Right here…it’s all here. An A/G-body Malibu coupe, clean body, with a dark-colored exterior any an interior that wasn’t black. A powertrain that was more than capable, and a look that said “don’t try your luck”, but spoke the words quietly instead of shouting them. A Malibu that looked like it could have been a feasible production car if the whole Malaise Era thing hadn’t happened. Daily-driver ready, pretty enough to show, fast enough to enjoy. It’s all right here.

From the listing: “LS swapped with a drive by wire 5.3 that has 52k miles on it now. Fuel injected and ready for boost. All new Grand National gas tank & fuel sending unit, in-tank 340lph fuel pump, -6 Gates push lock hose front to back, black anodized AN fittings, new exhaust, clean red interior, new 15×8 steel rear wheels, new tires front & rear, Quick Performance 9 in with billet pinion support, 31 spline axles, TruTrac unit, and 3.50 gear. Trans in the car does not go with it. I do have a fresh T350 with a trans brake or a 4L80e (your choice) comes with it. New QA1 single adjustable shocks on all four corners. New roof rail rubber. Car does have a 79 front clip on it. There are ALOT of new parts on this car.”

I’d say take my money now, but I don’t have $7,000 laying around. If you do, and this appeals to you, a suggestion: make contact with the seller ASAP.

Are you local to Knoxville? Just wondering how you found this one so quickly if you aren’t. That is one clean Malibu, and pretty much the exact setup going in my ’87 SS. I do have a soft spot for all G-Body’s.

I might know the car….very well. I am the one that built it and still owns it. For now anyway.

Got a smoking deal on a 66 Chevy II grudge car also. Set up for LS, mini tubbed, ladder bars, chromoly cage and LIGHT!!!

Well I definitely know you now. You graduated with my brother, and sold me my Welds for my SS back in ’94 or so. I would love to do everything in the ad to my car. GLWS.

“You offer less, I will go up. If you want it cheaper I will pull parts off of it. I do not need to sell it, I just dont have time to mess with it.”

Not sure why BangShift featured this car. Friend of the site? Based on his ad copy, I’d say he’s kinda “difficult”.

Not a friend. Dont know the guys at BangShift. Im not a difficult person, just dont like b/s low ballers. Ive got one guy on his way to look at buying as a roller. You know why? He doesnt have the money for it turn key so I worked with him. Not too difficult.

Never met Greg, and never have seen this Malibu before last night. He is close to me (though Knoxville is a small drive, it’s not bad). Greg, it’s a nice piece, hope it finds a good home. If I could swing the cost, I’d pay in half a second.

Me too! I have a friend that just did an ’81 with one of those new “plug and play” LS2’s from Scoggin Dickey that has more in the engine than this guy is asking for the whole car.

I can completely understand why the ad was written this way. When listing on Craigslist, spelling out your ground rules cuts down on a lot of the BS offers. Such as, “I’ll give you $3,000 CASH!” or “will you take my John Deere as an even trade?”.

  6. ANGRYJOE

If you’ve ever tried to sell a car or anything for that matter on craigslist you should understand why the ad was written the way it was….and it still does not deter people from offering stupid crap as trade or tossing a completely lowball offer….
