Historic Sportscar Racing Ltd. Names Dorsey Schroeder as Competition Director For 2014 And Beyond
We got a note from our friends at HSR saying that they had some big news and when we told them to lay it on us we found out that they weren’t kidding! The organization has named Dorsey Schroeder as Competition Director. Schroeder is one of the great names in the American sports car racing scene in the last 30 years racking up wins and championships at multiple different levels, working in television for more than a decade and a half, and generally being one of the larger personalities and voices in the sports car scene here in the USA. The duties of a competition director are pretty wide ranging so Schroeder will be applying his diverse racing background to the job and at the races. We’re planning on getting to at least one (if not more) of HSR’s races in 2014.
Lots of the vintage road racing videos we feature on the site, like those featuring Jim Pace in various Can Am cars and other stuff are taken at HSR races. The series visits places like Sebring, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta, and Daytona among others. The Daytona event in 2014 includes an epic and unique historic 24 hour race with six race groups that will race in rotation. That’s off in November but we’re planning on being there and not sleeping. It should be all time because the cars that will be there will range from 1961-2010 and be busted up into appropriate groupings. We’re thinking Schroeder will need to be dosed up on 5-hour energy drinks to keep a handle on all of that action!
In all seriousness, congrats to HSR and Dorsey Schroeder for hooking up and this should mean nothing but great stuff for racers and fans of the series alike. We always believe that having an experienced and knowledgeable racer in a position like this is the best move for everyone. Understanding the racer’s end of things as well as the “control room” side of the equation is a rare commodity and Dorsey has it.

CHAMPION COMPETITOR-EXPERT INSTRUCTOR-SEASONED ANALYSTWe have no doubt that Dorsey will be a great addition to the HSR team!BB2

“I am extremely pleased, and proud to be appointed as the Competition Director for HSR.  I feel that I can bring a thorough understanding of event organization as well as being able to guide through a drivers eyes.  My 30 years behind the wheel, and my 40 plus years in this sport, probably classifies me as somewhat vintage!I attended the year end HSR Sebring event as a driver to raise monies for the research and cure of Huntingtons Disease, in the name John Paul Jr, and was very impressed with the event and HSR.I very much look forward to this new chapter in my racing career”.

See you at the track!
