RacingJunk Find: An 800hp NASCAR Powered Former Trans Am Mustang Road Racing Destroyer

RacingJunk Find: An 800hp NASCAR Powered Former Trans Am Mustang Road Racing Destroyer

We know that there are far more sensible ways to go road racing. Lighter cars with smaller engines, go karts, Formula Vee racers, and all of that stuff but let’s be honest here. This is BangShift and none of that stuff is nearly as cool as this full tilt, former Trans Am racer 1995 Mustang that is powered by an 825hp Roush engine that sounds like it is a slightly detuned version of what the Sprint Cup guys are running. This car is a real animal and we only wish we had some audio of it firing up and idling. We know what it sounds like in our mind and we want the validation in our sweet little ear drums.

Obviously we’re talking about a full tube frame car here that is designed to be taken apart, serviced, and put back together. At the link the actual sales ad you can see photos of the body taken off the chassis, giving you an idea of how complicated running a car like this could be. There are adjustments for literally every part and facet on the machine. The suspension is virtually limitless in tune-ability and that’s just the start. The car wear slicks that are a mondo 14.5-inches wide in the rear and a measly 14-inches wide up front. It has brakes that you could serve pizzas on, and a very business like cockpit that is filled with switches, gauges, and a shifter.

Here’s a few snippets from the ad to whet your whistle –

Currently it has a Roush Yates 358 D3 Nascar Cup motor. It is rated at 825 hp, and is in top running conditions. Fully dry sump with a Verde pump and Yates Holley custom carburetor and intake. It comes with 2 complete Weisman shuttle shift 5 speed gear boxes, plus enough spare to build a third gear box and at least 35 gears sets. The rear end is a 9” Winters alloy center section and Strange third member with light weight REM finished ring and pinion. Plus a complete second matching third member fresh. Brand New Speedway crowned axles just installed.

The body is a Roush style Mustang body. It is very low drag, with a Derhaag Carbon rear wing, GT1/ Trans Am legal. It comes with a hood, front complete nose, both side panels and rear bumper extra. It is all carbon/Kevlar bodywork. I have added Carbon hood wheel vents to the main hood, which helped down force. It is also equipped with HRP airjacks, and includes the air lance. I would not have a TA car without them.

This is a full compete package, with lots of running spares including: 4 sets of wheels (2 BBS and 2 Weld), New rains tires, extra Carbotech brakes, rotors, fuel pumps, hardware, axels, rear housing, third member, radiator, oil heat exchanger, starter, rack, sway bars and lots more!! An extra complete Roush 358 engine could be available for an additional cost.

There is tons more information about the car at the link below and hundreds of photos. Scroll down and hit the link to see it all!

Didn’t BangShift post a video sometime back of a guy that had a similar, full-race type car, but only street legal…..I’m getting old & foggy, but……

There is a guy out there who has one of these but he got it licensed and registered for the road. Hot rod Magazine covered it.
