“Fearless” Fred Goeske is a true drag racing legend. Through the 1960s and 1970s he terrorized strips from coast to coast in a series of awesome Funny Cars that were nitro powered to begin with and then rocket powered at the tail end of his career. Currently on eBay is his vintage 1968 Dodge transport truck and what we believe is his last drag racing exhibition vehicle, a hydrogen peroxide rocket dragster.
The rocket dragster was campaigned into the early 1980s and ran speeds over 320mph and elapsed times in the four second range. As best we can tell Fred had guys driving the car for him. Rod Phleps’ name seems to pop up around the car alot. Again taking a psuedo shot in the dark, we think the car was built by Ky Michaelson, one of the true masters of the hydrogen peroxide rocket car realm.
The truck is totally kick ass as well. It is very similar to the hauler Don Prudhomme restored back to the “Snake and Mongoose” livery. Ol’ Fred doesn’t provide a heck of a lot of information on the truck. The year is basically it. Frankly he could have listed the thing has having a slant six (it probably has a 413) and we’d continue to lust after it.
