The guys and girls at HSR have been killing it recently with awesome in-car videos from the 40th running of the famed Mitty at Road Atlanta. We have been sharing them like mad because they are fun and frankly entertaining as hell. In this case we’re in the Porsche of Mike Banz as he approaches the tricky turn seven on the course. As he slows the car somewhat and enters the corner it goes into a slide and Banz is right on top of the wheel to keep it from going off into the cabbage.
We’re wondering if there was something on the track as there’s a bunch of smoke and stuff just ahead of him before he gets to the turn. That may be from either a racer lunching an engine or perhaps someone hitting the same spot that was left by a previous competitor.
HSR has a TON of different classes and categories that allow for vintage race car that date from the 1960s to just a few years ago to compete. Obviously the the old Porsches like the one that Banz is driving were known to be handfuls and we guess this video is perfect confirmation of that fact.
Banz is quick to react, he is smooth with the wheel, and most importantly he is perfect on the throttle. He had decided to be more aggressive with the pedal on the right he would have either looped the car or headed off into the grass in our estimation.
We’d love to drive it!
