The genre of the “high end” muscle car build tends to be polarizing. Lots of guys identify more with the “bleeding in the driveway homebuilt car” end of the hobby and look with disdain at cars like the Ring Brothers 1970 Mustang called the Dragon which is shown in more detail after the jump. On the other side of the coin are the people who simply see the car as a canvass to allow talented artists and fabricators like the Ring Brothers to work their magic.
We know that this car did not debut at SEMA this year, it actually hit the floor with a lot of buzz in 2010, but it looked right at home tucked into the booth we saw it at and got the discussion going between the two of us as we scoped it out.
Your take on this car probably says a lot about how you see the hobby and your opinion how cars “should be built”. Are the super clean, almost European inspired looks of a car like this cool to you or are they too slick for your liking? Do you love it for the fact that the execution is nearly flawless in every aspect of the build? Do you hate the huge price tag? Maybe a car like is is your dream ride?

If I had the money, sure…it’s over the top but done right.

As a general rule I find those kind of cars useless other than showing off someone’s skills. That ’70 isn’t as bad as the ’67 they did a few years ago, it was just grotesque.

I’m not really into the “team built” cars sponsored by a 3rd party. For me, it falls into the same catagory as the current version of Project-X (don’t like that either). I want to see what guys build for themselves with their own hands and money.
They’ve managed to eliminate everything I like about old cars out of this poor Mustang.
I’d be impressed when it hits Drag Week next year. It’s two years old, time to get some rock chips in the paint and bugs on the windshield.
It’s not how I’d build it, but I would drive it.
Definately clean, cool and modern looking. But as mentioned, there it is missing a lot of the things that make me like the old cars. Namely chrome and sidewall rubber.
I like. the paint is very nice. I do not like air dams doing retared things. what is that? a guillotine for road kill? an oil pn too big in SCCA or even nascr at 200mph has the immortalized excuse for air dam..the rest can just be simple..and even the origin is simple. what is up with these chinese roof tops as air dams ? it sucks. kills the whole cars appearance…and I am glad the chrome is gone. That is nice
The front rims suck but the car is nice ,nice color and all, I still like the Anvil better though.
I walked around it at GoodGuys Ft Worth.
I’m not a fan of the groung effects,but I know why the did it.Mustangs hang a bunch of stuff below the rocker panels that are not smooth,headers,frame rails,mufflers.So by extending the rocker down they hide all that,the problem is it takes away one thing that is cool about Mustangs,thier thin profile.The New cars with the “retro” shape suffer the same “thickness”. The Rear does NOTHING for me,huge “LOOK AT ME” (riceish)tail pipes that billit web thing.
The front again allows the Mustang “Hanggy down stuff” to hide,but nothing looks better than a set of headers and oil pan hanging under the bumper to me +10 if it’s a big block. The engine covers score a big ZERO,the over sized hood pins and billet hood hindges draw attention to features that should “hide in plain sight”.Ive got more but you get the idea,it will score points at the car show,and thats what it does.
I can appreciate the kind of man hours it takes to build something like that. I envy that their newfound reputation allows them to build whatever they want with little eye towards budget. I dig their style too, though I think they’d be doing themselves a favor to step out of the box they’ve created for themselves pretty soon.

Still falling into the same monochrome bar of soap trap that nearly killed the street rod guys a few years ago.
Better than the butchery they did on the Fairlane. At least this time they kept some of the character of the car. As others mentioned – they blew it with the 90’s looking ground effects and the ricer exhaust. A sliver of chrome on bumpers might have sharpened up the image.
I can’t get into it. I’d much rather see the 30 or 40 Bangshift project cars than look at this one car.
The guys that built the 69 “Anvil” stang got it right… This thing fits the whole Pro-Wank thing to a T…
I pretty much dislike everything the ring brothers do. I’m sure the level of detail and build quality is amazing, however.
I’m just the opposite, I love all of the Ring Brother’s builds. They think outside of the box, we’ve seen the same old, same old Mustangs build for the last 40 years. This one stands out.

it falls into a catergory i like to call “Extreme Touring” (Anvil mustang, Innovator Nova,) pro touring cars that go above and beyond the norm of muscle cars and really start to change body panels and dimensions and things like that
Steam Punk meets Mustang. Needs Gatling guns hanging off the doors.
